This wide, beautiful street has statues located along its length of famous Richmond Confederate heroes. They begin in the Fan District at Harrison Street. The statues are of General Robert E. Lee, General J.E.B. Stuart, Confederate President Jefferson Davis, Commander Matthew Fontaine Maury, and General Stonewall Jackson. In 1996 a monument honoring famous local hero tennis star Arthur Ashe was erected.

Thousands of Confederate soldiers are buried there, memorialized by a 90-foot granite pyramid built in 1869.Two U.S. Presidents are there, James Monroe and John Tyler, as well as many other famous Virginians such as Jefferson Davis and J.E.B. Stuart. Gates open daily.
